Moon Notes No. 2 | The Woman You're Becoming Will Cost You Something

Moon Notes No. 2 | The Woman You're Becoming Will Cost You Something

Nobody talks about this part.

Everyone loves the idea of growth. They love the motivational quotes.
The vision boards. The "new year, new me" energy. The before-and-after stories.

But very few people talk about what growth actually asks of you. Because becoming the woman you're meant to be isn't free. It costs you.

Sometimes it costs you comfort. Sometimes it costs you friendships. Sometimes it costs you the version of yourself that everyone else preferred because she never said no.

And sometimes...

It costs you the identity you've spent years trying to hold together.

I used to think becoming "better" meant adding more.

More habits. More routines. More books. More goals. More productivity.

(As if buying another planner was somehow going to solve all my problems.)

Turns out, the biggest changes in my life didn't come from adding.

They came from letting go.

Letting go of trying to make everyone happy. Letting go of saying yes because I didn't want to disappoint anyone. Letting go of feeling guilty for resting. Letting go of the pressure to constantly prove that I was doing enough.

And honestly...

Some of those things weren't easy to release. Some of them had become part of who I thought I was.

Here's something nobody warns you about...

The people around you get used to a certain version of you.

The one who always replies immediately. The one who always says yes. The one who bends over backwards. The one who never asks for anything.

So when you suddenly start setting boundaries...

People notice.

Not everyone applauds. Some people get uncomfortable.

Not because you've done anything wrong.

But because your boundaries highlight where they benefited from you not having any.

That's a hard pill to swallow.

I've realised something over the past year.

Protecting your energy doesn't make you selfish. It makes you available for the people who matter most. When I stopped trying to be everything to everyone...

I became a better mum. A better partner. A better friend. A better business owner.

Not because I was doing more. Because I finally had something left to give.

Funny how that works.

There's another cost that doesn't get talked about enough.

Loneliness. Not forever.

Just for a season.

Growth has a funny way of creating space before it fills it.

Sometimes friendships drift. Sometimes conversations don't feel the same anymore.

Sometimes the places that once felt exciting suddenly feel exhausting.

It can make you wonder if something is wrong with you.

There isn't.

You're just growing.

And growth often feels lonely before it feels beautiful.

Can I let you in on something?

Every version of you has served a purpose. The people-pleaser.

The perfectionist. The woman who apologised too much. The woman who doubted herself.

She got you here.

You don't have to hate her. You just don't have to keep being her.

If you're feeling like you're changing lately...

If you've been saying no more often. If you're craving slower mornings instead of busier schedules. If you've stopped chasing everyone's approval.

If you're choosing peace over proving yourself.

Don't panic.

You're not losing yourself.

You're meeting her.

The woman you've been becoming all along.

And yes...

She'll cost you something.

But I promise she'll be worth every bit of it.

🌙 Journal Prompt

What version of yourself are you holding onto simply because she's familiar, not because she's serving you anymore?

This Week's Reminder

Not everyone will understand your growth. They don't have to. It's your journey, not theirs.

Love,

Court xx 🌙
